Being a blogger definitely has it’s advantages. Let me show you two things that I’m absolutely loving lately-
**I was given these products at no charge to facilitate a review. That does not guarantee a positive post or recommendation. All thoughts are my own, as usual, because YMMV**
Through my relationship with Girls Gone Sporty, I was given the opportunity to review this little beauty-
If you’ve been around the blog for any amount of time, I’m always talking about being crunched for time. Often having difficulty fitting workouts in, and even with my beautiful new treadmill, I can’t always get my runs in if I’m out running the kids around. (see what I did there HA!) It’s not like I can toss it into the car and bring it to work or swim practice.
Here’s where the Desk Cycle comes in. Now, weighing in at a whopping 24 pounds means I wouldn’t exactly call it “easily portable” for most, but the weight isn’t a problem for me. It’s sturdy and didn’t require an engineering degree to get it put together. And it came with the only tool you needed! Thank you desk cycle for not making me figure out the guts of this machine!
Since the girls started on the swim team and my son playing soccer, it’s been really difficult to squeeze my workouts in. I’m not one of those moms that likes to drop the kid at practice and go do other things. I like to be there, I like to see my kids play and work hard and improve. Often times that means I’m sitting on the sidelines with other parents. Now, I can get a good sweat on and still watch the kids! First day at the pool I was able to churn out over 16 miles and not miss a single splash! Now that school’s out for the summer, my job switches to 10 hour days with only a 30 minute lunch. Hardly enough time to eat, nevermind a run. Also, it’s SUMMERTIME!!!! The kids want to do fun stuff and hit the pool with mom when I get off work. And honestly, I don’t want to miss fun with them either, but I’m also legitimately wore out by the time we’ve had dinner and gotten cleaned up. As much as I’d like to jump on the treadmill at the end of the evening, it’s just not fair to my kids (who live with my treadmill in their room) who need sleep to recover from their day, or to me- I NEED sleep as well. I am tired of being tired so I’m putting an emphasis on healthy sleep to aid recovery- both from exercise and life!
Luckily I can fit the Desk Cycle under my cubicle. It came with a velcro strap to wrap around my desk chair so I don’t go rolling away! I love that it’s super quiet and the only reason anyone knew something was going on was because I was wobbling a bit back and forth as I pedaled.Yesterday I kept the resistance pretty low and got 28.8 miles. Today, I had to beat that, so I cranked up the knob to 6 and grinded out 40 miles over the course of the day.
Having this machine truly makes it easy to get a good workout in and I’m able to still work on other things, so that I can enjoy time with my family without feeling like I’m missing my workouts! It’s safe to say this is a verified fitness hack!
Where do you start with TIUX??? Let’s start with the obvious- compression is all the rage right?! I have several types of compression socks and sleeves in my closet, but I don’t generally use the socks for running because I hate the way the squeeze my toes. TIUX doesn’t make my toes feel like they’re in a tourniquet. In fact they’re crazy soft in the foot-bed, in a good way! They feel almost like wearing slippers. They’re long enough to reach my knees as well, which is hard to do given the length of my legs. There isn’t a huge variety of colors or patterns to choose from, but that’s ok. What they lack in pizzazz, they more than make up for in function. That blue band helped my calf muscles feel supported without feeling like I was losing feeling in my toes. I also didn’t feel like they were so tight they make me have muffin top knees lol!Now let’s talk a little about the cool things this company has going for it.
- There are no brick and mortar stores. That means savings for us. There’s no middleman buying low and selling high.
- There are no paid endorsers. That means the people who are promoting this company is doing it because they believe in it, not because it’s mandated in their high dollar contract!
- Perhaps the absolute most meaningful reason to support TIUX is their partnership with MAG. Here’s an excerpt from the TIUX website
…we’ve partnered with MAG (Mines Advisory Group) and will donate 1% of our revenue to help save lives and protect communities from landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and other weapons remaining after conflict. This means that 1% of every purchase will go towards providing a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by violence and conflict.
MAG is a non-governmental organization that has worked in more than 40 countries since 1989, to save lives and build futures by:
Reclaiming land contaminated with remnants of conflict, such as landmines, cluster munitions, bombs, shells and mortars.
Finding ways to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians.
Creating safe and secure conditions for development, free from armed violence.
